Final Image Taking: Day 2

Today, I visited the house of another subjects, who's daughter is a collector of buttons. Although her daughter is only 11 years old, her collection spans over four boxes and cases. Running with the layout of my previous image, I decided to photograph one of her cases in her bedroom, as it complimented the colour pattern of her wallpaper and represented her age.

We spent the afternoon counting the buttons together and placing them into piles before putting them back into the case to be photographed. I had not met the subject before, and felt like I needed to know her more, especially because of her age, before I represented her collection in a photograph.

6,382 buttons

I originally experimented with capturing the box on the doorstep of her room, so that we had the background of the room in the blurred background, similar to the other image. However, I felt like the background of the wallpaper represented the subject, her age, and her personality. Both of the images that I have chosen for my final images fit together because of the lighting and settings I have used on my camera.
